Chavet set

I hope that makes sense … otherwise - apologies for the confusion.

Hello there and thanks for suggestion. I think I'm already doing that as far as I know but will also try from my tablet see if that works.
I do have a laptop but it's really playing up (at the stage where you want to scream at it 😄) so more faffing about than it's worth trying to use it.

This looks like a nice little set to me. Â The only minor issues I noticed are the missing box divider, the back of the box has taken some hits along its way, and the dark spot on one of the white knights (which looks to be in the wood itself rather than damage/staining). Â Good luck if you decide to pursue it!

+1 on everything GrandPatzerDave said. It looks good to me overall. It is a 153 so it is polished double-weighted, felted, and with a single piece knight. I'm not that familiar with the design of the smaller Chavet set but I would say it is vintage. The pieces and box both have a slightly newer design compared to other vintage sets. Here is one with a slightly older design that sold recently. https://www.ebay.com/itm/255091508479?hash=item3b64a384ff:g:uKEAAOSwPzZhDREs. The set you're considering is a good one. The Chavet design is super nice.Â

Thanks guys, I noticed the stain on the knight too. It's been sold and as it had only just been listed think someone must have made him an offer.
I've come across this set. It's not Chavet but saying it's Jacques. I'm not sure that it is and thinking it might be a Lardy. What do you think?

It looks like a Lardy to me. There is one cracked pawn though. The condition is not so great but then again the price is very inexpensive. Btw, the other Chavet set went for 50 GBP.

I didn't notice the cracked pawn.
Surprised Chavet seller accepted £50, I thought it could possibly go higher than the opening bid.
Thanks.

By the way thanks guys. It's really interesting and informative. I'm hoping to be able to get to the stage that I can generally tell one set apart from another, the condition and what it's worth.
I've already learnt what a Lardy looks like and about the Jacques stamp on the King. Looking forward to developing my knowledge.
Based on the brown mark on the white knight, the same set is up for 260 now.

Wow. Ebay seller jacqueline3663 purchased the set and is flipping it in their store within days of receiving the set for 400% increase in price. LOL

No wonder the knot on the knight looked so familiar. Wow! That's a heck of a price increase and it is night and day between the photos from the first auction and the current auction. You know what... good for her (the seller). Chavet sets seem to be hot right now. There was a B210 that sold for 1,231 Euro recently. I was a bidder but sadly lost to two others who just wanted it more.

Oh wow same set! Wish I would have offered the £50 now 😆.Â
I've seen this seller often on ebay. Prices always seem to be very high.
Wonder how the original seller feels!

a new set popped up, if anyone is interested. It must be authentic, since there leaners Â
Tried to find my old post but it's got buried. Also tried to copy photos and post on here but can't seem to do it from phone so here's a link. Will be interested to hear your thoughts 🙂.
