Cheap Garbage Chess Bag From Chess.com Shop Ruined my Board

So big thumbs down to the "Quiver Chess Bag" on the chess.com shop. The bag is super small, the strap is impossibly short, it's cheaply made with this little lip on the end that makes getting the board out difficult, and absolute worst of all, the colours on it ran (despite no moisture or out-of-room temperatures) and permanently marked my vinyl board before it even got to see it's first physical game.

The pictures don't quite do it justice with just how much the board is marked up. The marks are more visible in person than on camera, and it went from being fresh and pristine to ruined.

I tried using every cleaning solution I have, and nothing made a dent in removing it. Sad too cus I've only had the board for a month, and it still had that fresh vinyl smell. I even tried to reach out to the people at the shop, but they haven't responded to my email. Really disappointing.

If the shop actually had a way to leave reviews, I would leave two thumbs down and 0 stars or 1 if I could.

Buyer Beware: DO NOT BUY THE QUIVER CHESS BAG!

And if anyone from the chess.com shop sees this, check your email.

Years ago you could buy a bag to hold your pieces, clock, and board and it would last for years.   Now?  The quality and craftsmanship has gone downhill.   The stitching is cheap, and doesn't hold.  The zippers are cheap and give way.  This is what happens when companies try to save money and buy cheap crap made in China, or any of those other 3rd, world sweat factories.

The saddest thing is how far wholesalechess.com has fallen quality wise.   They used to offer free piece replacement, and the quality of the bags was really good.  Now...Just cheap quality crap.

@DexDaCat  The chess.com shop is, "powered by" the House of Staunton. Maybe contact HoS and see what they say? Although my recent attempt at getting some simple questions answered by HoS customer service regarding a $500 set was pisspoor. So I wouldn't hold out much hope.

Looks familiar?

Yeah in the contact me section, they had their email and it was something like chesscomshop@houseofstaunton.com so who knows. Either way I'm pretty upset with this

That looks terrible. I thought about buying a bag like that to store my mousepad board. I'm glad I did not get it.

Have you tried nail varnish remover?

Might not work but worth a try if you happen to have some.

Sad, really, when you consider that if you had rolled your board with the squares to the inside, those marks would have been on the backside of the board.

@DexDaCat  Do you have a pic of the whole damaged vinyl board? And since I'm sure you'll never use that quiver bag again, have you turned the bag inside out to investigate what could've caused that staining?

Contact HoS CS directly, that chesscomshop email might not be regularly monitored.

Got a response from them. Actually super helpful! They agreed to replace the board and replace with a new different bag. Haven't tried turning it inside out but I'll give that a try now!

That's good. I'm glad they did that for you.
