chess Book

"Logical Chess: Move by Move" by Irving Chernev.
"Silman's Complete Endgame Course"
"Play Winning Chess" by Yasser Seirawan.
These will give you everything you need to start. But something that is very important to understand. You dont read chess books. You study chess books. Properly studying a chess book will take you months. Use a real board and pieces, pen and paper to take notes. I would also advise getting together with a stronger player so they can go through your studies with you. And by "Better" I would suggest someone that is at least 1700-1800 FIDE.

Good Chess Books for Beginners and Beyond…

What do you think of the Art of Chess, from Tsevtkov?
Never read or studied it so I cant answer your question. If I remember correctly that was the guy claiming to be able to beat stockfish and any engine. He "published" some "books" on amazon showing his wins against stockfish but gave ZERO reasoning or explanation on "how or why" to beat chess engines. Many people asked for explanations that he never gave, people challenged him and he always refused. The general consensus was he was using take backs. He eventually disappeared.

I'm reading and I like Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess.
Bobby Fischer didnt even write the book. He lent his name to it for $$$.
Who Wrote It:
Bobby Fischer: Provided his name and chess ideas to the project.
Stuart Margulies: A chess master, recognized authority on programmed learning, and the book's primary author.
Donn Mosenfelder: The owner of the company that developed the book and an author of several books on basic education.
