Search Google “best beginner chess books”. You cannot go wrong with well reviewed book series by Yasser Seirawan, Jeremy Silman, Irving Chernev. Personally I also like Fundamental Chess Openings by Nunn, although it is a little above total beginner.
I like Murray Chandler's Chess Tactics for Kids right now. It gives 50 basic tactics, dedictating 3 positions on 6 commented diagrams over two pages to each one. The examples are all from real games and they are very well chosen, entertaining and packed. There is a test section at the end of the book. A structured and condensed starting kit for kids and also instructive for instructors, I guess.
@bidyutjorhat , sir I have read your book "must know chess concepts to become a strong player" a month ago. I like your attack and defense chapters very much. It was like my eye opening. my current elo was 1860 and currently I improve +76 elo only because of your book. Thanks to you and eagerly waiting for your next one. Greeting from India !!
