lol from the start... Dan Heisman is the biggest for profit chess coach ive ever seen.

all his material is the same thing over and over again, and he overcharges the hell out of his lessons... $85/hr????

There is an IM that lives 10 miles from my house who charges $50/hr.

Hell, GM Ronen Har Zvi of ICC videos charges 60-70/hr. What makes Heisman so special?

forcing free members to sign up if they want to read the articles, not a bad idea.                 Let me tweek that a little.  Erik should have a pay policy on starting threads. Not much, say, $1.00 for chess, $2.00 for off-topic, and you wouldn't have to be a pay member to start a thread. But you would need pay-pal, or Mastr Charge, or debit pay to START a thread.   More people would police the're threads more, and less people would take up bandwidth with nonsense.

Terrible idea

A free site should not have restrictions like that at all. The point of paying money is to get bonus material, but staying free will still give you the core of the site. Making threads is part of that core.

ChessCafe was my favorite website. I wouldn't mind paying for it but $ 50 is a lot for a lowly amateur like myself. $ 25 would have been much more reasonable. As a result I now don't visit.

By the way I like Dan Heisman's stuff and have two of his books.

But you are not paying $50 for the site, you are being asked to buy books for a $50 value in order to access the articles.

It's worth the $50 for the quality content it has. By far the best chess site on the www. Furthermore, you can just buy chess material worth $50 and get a free one year subscription.

When I saw this bump I thought it might be to link to the other recent topic on Chess Cafe:

Nice prediction. Actually 9 months. May 29, 2015 - the last posted article. Smile

Edit: Oh, I see you already bumped it at the time, nice.

Ordered late Thursday of the past week and my books were shipped on Friday. Super service as long as they were packed okay.
