Chess piece types

@Powderdigit, thanks for the shout out!
@ASwanson007, you might also want to checkout my website www.chess-collection.de in general. I have a lot of different styles and patterns in my collection.
The book @Powderdigit mentioned gives a bit more structured overview, inter alia over the most important patterns as well as the most common materials. Here are the contents of my book.
Recently I am intrigued by the diverse world of chess piece types and their unique designs. I find myself captivated by the various styles and cultural influences that have shaped the evolution of chess pieces. From the classic Staunton style to the intricately carved pieces of different regions, each style tells a story and offers a glimpse into the rich history and artistry behind the game. I am eager to delve deeper. I see ivory carved stuff and everything , but I fail to find exact names rather time periods..... Im kinda very confused, do any of you know of good resources on this topic??
