Hi! I am totally new to electronic boards. I've never even touched one. What's this I hear about 'Chessnut'?...

the Chessnut Go is a great little board, works well and is pretty affordable

HELP! I love Chessconnect since it works way better than Chessnut's own apps for my Chessnut Go. It works perfectly on my PC and my Mac. But Kiwi browser has now been discontinued and I can't figure out a way to use Chessconnect on my Android phone. Any tips?

Edge Canary might be an option. I will have to look into this.

For an android phone try the beta Chessnut android app. It replicates the features (well some features) of the Evo and is worth a look.

The latest beta worked fine with my ichessone board. Nice to have the led color options. Auto reconnect doesn't seem to work on kiwi.

joernupbde

@xctbl: Thanks for testing! What firmware version do you have on the iChessOne?

xctbl

1.1.8.155

I did note a non recognized king move from check yesterday, I didn't keep the log...

The new Version 4.5.16 of the public beta brings support for a new chess site: noctie.ai.

There are also two promo codes for Chessconnect users:

  • "CHESSCONNECT" - 50% off for 2 months for the monthly sub
  • "CHESSCONNECTYEAR" – 15% off for the first year for the yearly sub

I am not affiliated to the site in any way. The codes are just a curtesy of noctie.ai. Nevertheless, I do like the site and can recommend giving it a try. This is also the first chess site to actively integrate Chessconnect into their code!

When using the clock (DGT3000) and Chessconnect, is there a way to configure it so that the clock shows the opponents move, and then once you have moved it shows your clock? This seems like you would get the best of both worlds, and wouldn't need to look at the screen for anything.
It maybe that I am in the wrong clock mode or something?

joernupbde

@andrewrimmer: Actually, that is the suppoed behavior. You need to select option 25 ("computer") on the clock for this to work. And since version 4.5.17beta you need to indicate the presence of a clock in the Chessconnect settings.

andrewrimmer

@joernupbde I think I have done all that. The clock is updating the move when my opponent makes it.

However, the move stays on the screen and I don't see ever see the time remaining tick down. This is on chess.com, I haven't tested with any other server.

joernupbde

@andrewrimmer: I will check.

Hi.
Nice extention, I've been using it for my last games. Several on Lichess and at least one here on this site.
I have a DGT e-board (USB) with DGT3000 clock.
The board works perfect but the clock have some issue. It update the time correct but the countdown is for the wrong side. I tried different things in the settings (white on left side etc.) but can't get it to work correct. Is it something I do wrong?
I haven't tried the beta, I can do it tonight and make a video of how it works for me, if it helps.
I also have an XL clock I could try, if there should be any differences.

joernupbde

@OddGM: A video showing both the Clock and the computer screen would be nice. You can try the beta but I do not expect it to make much of a difference.

Thanks for the reply.
I will do a test tonight. I see you have made it for the Edge too, so I can also try it there.
Nice that you have made it for Noctie too (beta), any plans to get the clock to work there?

joernupbde

The clock should work with noctie.ai, too. If it doesn't, please let me know.

Ok, I test it there too.
I just made a quick test (one game with 15+10) last night with the first beta and it didn't seems to communicate with the clock. Only showing --.-- in mode 25.

I used the lunch hour to make a short video:
https://youtu.be/AHyl_2UQr3sFirst is the released version (4.4.11), then the beta (4.5.19), and at the end it is a test on Noctie.
I needed to disconnect/connect the cable to get it to work in Chrome. I have not seen this before and don't know why this happened. I tried a restart of my PC, but it didn't help.
I did a test with Edge too, but the clock didn't work correctly there either.

2 different camera streams and a co-ordinated screencast. Very impressive!
