Another Kickstarter project which seems to be well behind the projected schedule. It says that the Kickstarter raised HK $ 545,000, which is only $US 70,000.

I guess that money is gone...

Meanwhile, the Kickstarter page says it doesn't work with chess.com at this time...

meetarnav

Actually it works with chess.com. However, since they have not officially signed anything wiyh chess.com yet they can't say it officially.

Do you work there?  How would you know?

You seem to be quite active promoting obscure E boards.

@meetarnav, after having been burned several times by various Kickstarter projects, no matter how much I might like the idea, I’ll wait until there is an actual production model, thank you. While I might applaud your enthusiasm for new projects, If you are going to shill vaporware, go do it elsewhere, please. The denizens of this forum, by and large, are too savvy to fall for much. We called hoax on Regius, after all.

Coz I got burned by buying a half baked DGT product and then had to sell it on eBay at a  loss. I want everyone to diversify chess and not have a money minded egocenteic company controlling board monopoly. Its like fiat vs crypto. 🤣

You speak for all the millions of members on chess.com, I am assuming? Posting about knowledge of latestdevelopmenta isn't against the rules. Not sure hiw that is construed as marketing when I don't get paid for it.

You can voice your opinion, I can't?

Welcome to the politically correct future. Jeez.

Those "half-baked" DGT products you are talking about are used worldwide in grandmaster tournaments. DGT should be applauded for trying to make less expensive versions for the masses. If another company comes along with a superior product, it will gain market share quickly, I'm sure. And while crypto might be the wave of the future, like all investments, its a crapshoot. I'm already there im a limited way, but I'm not going to base my entire portfolio on it.

Oh, you can voice you opinion, all right. I agree with you about DGT needing competition. But you are all over the forum actively promoting truly "half-baked" i.e., not in production, products. That's marketing, not opinion.

jjupiter6

"Had" to sell it is stretching the truth a bit. "Chose" to sell it is more accurate.

Its not actually. There is a difference between publicity, advertising and marketing. But everyone on online forums these days is the expert on everything unfortunately.

Oh, and you have seen this one yourself?

I think that everyone would love to see something decent come along but this one, even if everything turns out, has a long way to go.

LOL — I’m a retired English teacher… don’t try to play semantic games with me. And I don’t pretend to be an expert on everything. I don’t have a problem with your premise, but with your implementation.

Hmm.. I don’t know if this is the best place to ask this question but what do you guys think of the Chessnut Air and what it offers? I know it’s not out yet still, but so far I believe they seem to be on track with getting their product out there and they respond fairly quickly compared to other companies. They also seem to take account of their backers ideas. I was hesitant on backing them at first though but I guess I pulled the trigger. I’m crossing my fingers it’s a business that will hold up in the end.

Did you read any of the earlier comments in the thread? Has anything changed?

I suppose it's too late to get your money back.

Oh well.

UPDATE: contrary to what most believed it looks like it’s actually happening! The company posted an update on their kickstarter saying shipment has arrived at U.S ports.

looking forward to seeing a review on it soon as  for me personally I like the style of this board.
