Why wouldn't you want that to show?!  That so coool!

How much does a guy have to spend to get a board similar to that, goldendog?  Do you have one?

What about mortise and tenon joint interlocking squares?  Does anybody make a board like that?

Well I mean if you didnt mine the joints...its can be easily done. It would be a more durable board...but not much. A flat joint done properly with the proper wood glue is hard as a rock. And like you said if the surface wasnt raised...naturally the joints wouldnt show. PS What is that gray line where the playing squares meet the frame..??

I guess I just never had a customer who wanted it that way lol. But its easily done. Especially with my UNIQUE SHAPER....hmm...might incorporate in my next board...doesnt look bad now that I look at it...you could even alternate joint direction.

So far as I know, Decristoforo is the only one who does this on his boards.

The model I showed was a HOS model for awhile but they stopped being carried, Reason unknown.

I think it was about a $300 board back then (2004?). Worth it I think. I'm a fan of simple framing, and the squares are pretty but not distractingly so. A good board for me.

I could make you a board like that goldendog if you missed out on that one and cant find another. Rosewood maple or any other wood...not expensive with that very simple design. I nean idk how much he was asking for that one but...hey...if yout interested I could do it after a couple boards I already have underway...if your not in a hurry!

I think that's just space. He had a little article on the web re how and why of joining wood this way was necessary for "permanent" squares that won't move and split.

Don't ask me though. My expertise is mainly moving chess pieces on the things. I'll say this, I've had an ANRI board for 40 years; it surely wasn't specially jointed and it's been perfectly stable. Maybe the Burma teak/maple was well-cured, and that has helped.

If I decide I want to go for it, I'll def keep you in mind.

Just dusty, I think.

For those freaking out about my asking price of $ 5000 for just the table... http://www.daviddecristoforo.com/archive/chessdd/tables.html Another great craftsman. Quality costs money.

For $120, I think I'd go for this board/storage. And, it is not so freakishly high:

Quality doesn't necessarily cost money.

@e4nf3: Go for it. Looks good.

Since yesterday ive been mentalling designing my next board. Thanks to goldendog for bringing up the groove. I think ill use it. The only flaw is see with that is that you cant really incorporate a accent grid on the board...because it wouldnt be thick enough to be grooved on both sides. Im still doing some r&d.

@kuko92, excellent work by you.

I don't have any marketing background but your product is the high end kinda thing and I feel that maybe you should try selling it to chess grandmasters. Just a thought.

All the best to you,

thanks, Smile

I don't know, if your looking to get the price your asking you'll probably want to target people who've made a more lucrative career choice than chess....

Maybe to a Maharaja? Target market:

@bankrankblues: thanks!! @thegrobe: your right...figured I would post anyway though.

Did you say a bargain? Lol Nice set, can't say I would ever pay that much for a chess set though! Good luck and let us know if you find anyone daft enough to be separated from their cash.

kuko92
50 euros? Lol...it isnt about the money guys...but come on...really? Lol
