Post some pics up when it arrives :)
Decent chess set?

Wow. Just wow. The pictures did not do this set justice. It's also a lot bigger than I expected. Might have to finish the basement to find a good spot for it.
Pictures to follow later.
You have the exact same chess set I have (only mine is in Boxwood - Ebony) complained about here (http://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/wooden-chess-sets-in-india?page=9). Could you weigh the pieces on occasion? My weight results are on page 10 of the mentioned thread. And could you maybe hold a magnet under the bottom of the pieces to see if they are weigthed with iron or with lead? I would very much like to know if only their XMAS 50% discounted pieces were not as described.

cool set! did you get the board too from them?
Yes, it is the same as your board, just the different coloring.

I can do that, but it may be a day or two for the weights.

Just did the magnet test and the weights are definitely a ferrous material.
How indecent!

Not different colouring, my one is rounded corners. I prefer your kind.

Ah, sorry. I mistook you for m12_shakes, it was early and I hadn't had my coffee yet.
However, my board is the same model as m12_shakes, just different square coloring.

How so?

House of Staunton is a joke. The United States Chess Federation (USCFSales.com) put out a sales catalog which included a $12995 chess set by HoS. I believe that is roughly 9600 British pounds.
So what is so special about this set you ask? It is made of mammoth ivory more than 40,000 years old . Who knew mammoths would be involved in chess games .
International trade protocal exempts the ivory from restrictions. House of Staunton will make money off these dead mammoths by selling sets to rich millionaires who don't even play chess.

dayummm...I can't understand how some of you can afford such expensive chess boards. And is it really worth it?
The set I ordered is on the truck for delivery today! Can't wait to open it up when I get home from work!
