Salve, it's not a problem on your end. The Pegasus on Chess dotcom is not used via the DGT Chess app, but through the official Chess dotcom app (for Android only). The (new) DGT Chess app is designed to play on Lichess, not on Chess dotcom. The "correct" flow is: 1) DGT Chess app --> connects the Pegasus to Lichess; 2) Chess dotcom app (for Android) --> Settings --> Connected boards --> select the Pegasus to play on Chess dotcom. Other than that, I tried ChessConnect with the Pegasus and it works great (both on Chess dotcom and Lichess). Ciao ![]()
DGT Pegasus Refuses to Connect to Chess.com

I just worded that poorly. I am trying to connect through the chess.com Android app and it refuses to connect. The chess board just keeps spinning and loading. DGT customer support is worthless. They just told me to contact chess.com as if I purchased the board from them.
Ok, got it. First things first, calibrate the board (and ensure the battery is fully charged). Open the Chess dotcom Android app and go to "Connected boards"; now click on the area/text (not the Bluetooth settings button), select "DGT Pegasus" from the list, and start a new game (then choose "DGT Pegasus - Use connected boards"). Alternatively, in the Chess dotcom app, get to the "board not supported" and (don't close the Chess dotcom app) turn Bluetooth off; wait 2-3 s and turn Bluetooth on again, tap to search for devices, and select "Pegasus" when it appears. If it fails, tap "Retry" 5-6 times. Once paired, return to Chess dotcom app (still open) and try connecting again. As for Chessconnect, try using a computer instead of your phone (that is, the Chrome extension, not the app), it should work reliably. And finally, clear Chess dotcom app cache, try uninstalling/reinstalling Chess dotcom app, and make sure location permission is granted. Ciao ![]()
Thanks for the effort but I'm pretty confused by most of this.
1. Now click on the area/text (not the Bluetooth settings button
I just have a list of Bluetooth devices in the chess.com app. Not sure what you mean by area/text.
2. I don't usually get a "board not supported" message. It just shows a spinning board icon forever.
3. I can't connect to the board n my phones settings. I also can't click 'retry' because it doesn't attempt and fail. It just shows a "can't pair" message over the Pegasus with no other options. It's completely broken.
I'm sorry for the confusion. Can you use the Pegasus on Lichess via the DGT Chess app (or White Pawn app) ? ![]()

Yes that works fine. It seems to be a software issue with the board and the chess.com app. I’m also confused how the board connects to the DGT app and Lichess but refuses to connect to bluetooth on my android. DGT should be helping me like you are but they just want to say it’s not their problem.
Yes, this is almost certainly a software "handshake" issue between Android Bluetooth stack, the Chess dotcom app, and the Pegasus firmware. Start with a full factory reset and contact DGT support (include your Pegasus serial number, Android version, Chess dotcom version, and a description of the exact error) for board-specific firmware patches (v3.01 is recommended for stable functionality). Should you be running an earlier firmware version, DGT will provide you complete instructions for updating to the current release. Regarding full Bluetooth reset, go to "Setting --> Bluetooth" (on your phone), find the Pegasus in the list of paired devices, tap the gear icon next to it, and "Unpair" (or "Forget") it (to avoid interference, remove any previously paired devices from your phone's BT settings before reconnecting the Pegasus) . Now clear Chess dotcom app Bluetooth (that is, go to "Apps --> Chess.com --> Storage", and tap "Clear cache" or "Clear data"). Restart everything (turns off the Pegasus, holding power button 5 s, restart your Android phone, and turn the Pegasus back on). Finally, re-pair from scratch (re-open Chess dotcom app --> Connected boards, and when the Pegasus appears, tap it directly). Ensure the battery is fully charged and re-calibrate the board, location services must be turned on for BT scanning to work, set the battery to "Don't optimize" or "Unrestricted". Let me know if it's all good, when you have a moment. Ciao ![]()
You're not understanding. I can't unpair the pegasus because it won't even pair. It has a '“cant pair” message so how could I unpair it from my device? DGT support doesn't care so why would I send them all that info? They just told me to use the chess connect app and stop bothering them. They have the worst support I've ever dealt with.
Sorry to hear that, I completely understand your frustration, dealing with unhelpful support and BT pairing loops is terribly annoying, but I'm here to help you dig deeper, and yes, you're right, you should not have to fight this hard just to play chess on a board you bought. Does the Chessconnect Android app (or Chrome extension) detect the Pegasus ? Have you tried a full BT reset (Setting --> System --> Reset options, and tap "Reset Wi-Fi and Bluetooth") ? Do you happen to have another Android device available to test the Pegasus ? This might help to see if the issue is with your phone's BT stack or the board itself. If you do figure it out, please let me know, I'm happy to help either way. Ciao ![]()
I have the same issue, my DGT Pegasus will not connect anymore. I tried it by Pixel 8 pro and Xiaomi Tab 7 pro. Chess.com app finds the board, but connecting it ends in an endless turnig wheel. I tried all, deinstall, install, clear cache and data, reset the board, reboot the devices. Nothing helps.
The board works fine with DGT app and Lichess. My chessnut go works by the chessnut app fine. Any other ideas? Otherwise I have to buy another Chessnut board but that's not affordable actualy and as DGT was a gift from my Wife, it could be a problem. 😱
Salve, the fact that your Pegasus works perfectly with Lichess and the DGT Chess app means the problem is isolated to the Chess dotcom app. First of all, verify all required permissions (location, nearby devices, Bluetooth obviously, and background activity). Also check "Battery saver" --> Chess dotcom --> "No restrictions", on your Xiaomi. Then, Chess dotcom has two interfaces: chess.com/play and chess.com/live: try the "legacy" server (that is, chess.com/live). Many users accidentally start a game first, the try to connect: this often causes the "spinning wheel". Try changing the connection flow: on Chess dotcom app, Play --> Custom, select "DGT Pegasus" (before starting the game), then tap "Use connected board", and only after that, ensure the Pegasus is powered on and in pairing mode. Sometimes the "Auto-Switch to my turn" can interfere with initial "handshake": try disabling "Auto-Switch" temporaly. Finally, test the Pegasus with a different Chess dotcom account, your main account might have a corrupted preference cache. Have you tried "Chessconnect" ? Can you use DGT Chess app as a "bridge" (that is, something like "Share games" or "Ongoing games") ? Ciao ![]()
Hey, this tipp was the ultimative one. First select the board and start searching, after that switch the board on and wait for a short time. The DGT Pegasus is now connected. Thanks a lot for your explanation and this solution.
That's fantastic news, I'm so glad it's working again ! In order to keep it working, bookmark this sequence for future reconnects, and keep the Chess dotcom updated (connectivity improvements are rolled out periodically). Thank you for your feedback, that's invaluable not just for me, but for the entire community of Pegasus users. Enjoy your games on the Pegasus, and may your moves be "swift". Happy playing ! I just pulled out my DGT Pegasus which I haven't used for a year or two and I'm very confused. It seems there are two DGT apps now. The old one I still had downloaded but I can't find on the app store anymore.
The new one allows me to connect to lichess but the chess.com implementation refuses to work. It sees the pegasus board but just shows the spinning chess board icon when I try to connect. I downloaded the chess connect app as a workaround and that doesn't seem to work either. I use chess.com the most so this is really annoying.
