Whoa, doggies!  When you said collector, Chuck, I didn't think you meant COLLECTOR.  This is the way I am with chess books.  How many full-sized, non-travel sets do you own?  How many boards?  How many clocks?

Using spice rack organizers is an excellent idea; I don't know if I would have thought of it.

Thanks much for the post and the photos.

Bob

Thanks, Bob. You are very welcome. I really don't know how many. My wife tells her friends I have 17 sets. That is certainly true. Those racks with the boards each hold 8. So there are 24 there, three Druekes on the top shelf, three upstairs, one on the table downstairs. Three that are cracked beyond salvage. And then there are vinyl and silicone and modular boards.

This...is...exceptional!  A very nice and complete collection you have, Chuck.

Nice collection there. Are you sure those shelves will be able to hold that much weight?

Bravo Sir  !! I am looking at those wall mounted boards from Straight Up Chess for display purpose. Hoping to have a VERY rare set to put up there very soon. Stay Tuned   ...

Thanks, Ron! I can't wait to see your set. I thought about those vertical boards. I thought it was a lot of money to invest in displaying one set.

Um I think two sets would fit No?Wink

Very nice Chuck,  thanks for sharing your Shangri-la

Very impressive, indeed!  You're creating a personal chess museum.  Should you decide to open a chess themed Bed and Breakfast, sign me up!  wink.png

Some soviet sets are like flûte à champagne.

Fins et élégants.

Félicitations.

Meanwhile, the rest of the collection patiently waits...

Chuck, If I wore hats, I'd take mine off to you. You, sir, have even more sets and boards than I do. I think I may have you in the books, clocks, and travel set categories, though... not that we are competing. I do look forward to having a beer and a game with you someday. and  I look forward to your future acquisitions.

Thanks, RC. Actually, behind all these boxes are most of my chess books, though there are stashes throughout the house.

Touche! Four if you do half-sets like I did. I can display three sets on one $7 rack. Or four on a $200-300 wall board that only takes up to, what, 3.5" pieces?

Thanks, Mike! What good are the sets if I can't look at and share them?
