I assume you have watched some of the videos available here and tried some of the Chess Mentor online courses. Which did you like better?

Perhaps you could be a little more specific in what items you are comparing?

I have a couple of the Fritz trainer DVDs (Andrew Martin and Maurice Ashley, both of the ones I have aimed mostly at beginners like me). I find the format very good (they come with a free viewer or you can use Fritz or Chessbase); but they are expensive, and I am not sure how often I will go back to them. They'd be good for a chess club or school (or even a few friends) to invest in. So far as I know, they will only run on Windows systems. Also, having seen some trailers of other ones, some of the presenters can be, not to be too unkind, a little lacklustre (Martin and Ashley are both very entertaining and excellent teachers). It may well be that the best bang for your buck is to subscribe to Chess.com or Playchess and get access to all their online videos. Also have a look at Lichess.org, which links a lot of videos freely available on Youtube, categorised by subject.
