Edinburgh Northern Upright - Royal Chess Mall
Her dog's name was Coco Puccini. I liked it until I slept over one day and got out of bed only to step in you know what.
Very lovely set, Mark.
Not really my cup of tea (or wee dram of single malt, whichever part of the day it may be ...) but it looks like a winner and another nice addition to your collection.
How many sets are you up to now? (Sorry if I have missed that recently.)
Hey Richard, good to hear from you. Thanks for the feedback and I totally understand why such a set doesn’t float everyone’s boat.
On number of sets?
More than the “five sets of lockdown”!😆🤦♂️
I’d have to do a proper stock take to be sure - because so I’ve sold many pieces, boards and tables … off the top of my head, I reckon circa 20 wooden sets (with only two duplicates (Henri Chavet *2 and 2*french Regence) — so a lot of variation in my wooden sets. Then say 7-9 plastic sets. Maybe 10-12 boards? 4 clocks.
Cheers for the feedback.👍
Just a tidbit from a non-collector,
I enjoy viewing the various sets and vicariously living through the collections of others. If i were a collector, this set would tempt me beyond my control. I find that it resembles what i would expect to see in an art museum. Perhaps due to the artistry of the Knight.
That's all, just my simple opinion. Well done Sir Powder, well done. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us.
OK! You got to me...Now I'm going to bend down, move one chess box out of the way and pull out my RCM Edinburgh-Northern- Upright pieces, to see how they stack up to that gem.
I'm in no mood to exert myself but, you forced me. Be right back...Argh!
Mine's a bit different...Boxwood and Indian RW,...My Knights are different and I like your set better....Good choice.

Cheers Wits.👍 Knowing how much you like woodwork… these pieces work in this reconditioned raised-edge board … perhaps not museum quality, but nice nonetheless.

Very nice indeed! I love the board as well.
