The Excalibur New York Times hanheld is rated around 1400 to 1500 at the highest level. My son has been using it for years & likes it.

No problem.. I think just about any of them on the market are ok. Those that come with boards & pieces that is.
Okay... what would be a good Electronic-Computer Chess set under 50$?
The Mephisto by Saitek Travel Computer would be a good choice. Its small portable & includes its own board & pieces for around 30 bucks. JMO
