I found this chess book in a thrift  store and only paid $0.21 for it. It's entitled:  "Chess the easy way". The book says it's for beginners but it is in-depth and extensive. It was written by Reuben Fine. It was originally copyrited in hardback in 1942. It was re-issued in 1972 and later re-issued in 2009. I have the the 1972 version. It talks about the war in the introduction. This book gives the 3 principles of chess. Later it gives 10 rules for the opening; 10 rules for the mid-game; and 10  rules for the end-game. I saw on it on Amazon. I'm sure it's on other book sites but it would benefit intermediate and masters. All versions I learned  are in the old english notation but it has numerous diagrams and puzzles. This is almost like a chess bible. Get this book it will benefit all chess player from beginner to master. Thank you and enjoy it. John Moyer; tinman5150

Glad you found an "oldie, but goodie" type book written many years ago, by one of the top 10 players in the world.

when you talk of chess bibles, his book, "Basic Chess Endings" was the Bible for endings for many years.     That book would take anyone MANY hours to properly read thru.

He and Sammy Reshevsky were the kingpins of American Chess for many years.

This book is a golden treasure for chess books. I seen it on Amazon and  I 'm sure you can get it used through some other websites you can search. Like I indicated it says beginner but goes further in-depth and extesive. I believe this book would be good for all chess players even masters. get the book and enjoy. It will really  open your eyes to a lot of chess knowledge and it's good for masters also. Get it and enjoy.
