Free chess training system: Guess the Move

I uploaded the latest (and perhaps last) version of my program "GuessTheMove" to the chess.com download section.  Previous versions have had a total of 6500 downloads.  Please give my program a try; it is free forever and runs under Windows.  I wish to thank the many people who have used it and given me valuable feedback.  Bug reports and further suggestions are always welcome. Here is a link.

I've been wanting to practice with a program like this for a while, so thanks for making it avaiable.

I also have an idea for a new set pf features, but if this was going to be the last version of the program then I might just write a seperate program for that as it would involve quite an extensive rewrite.

There's a program called Lucas Chess that has a guess the move module that is quite well done.  The developer is very active so you might check it out and see if your suggestion might apply to that program and/or already be implemented.

Lucas Chess is worth checking out either way.  Great program, not many people seem to know about it.

I am using the software. It is simple, yet wonderful. However there are a few things for improvement

1. Allow annotations! Training in chess always requires annotations.

2. Export as PGN to upload to chess.com for further help & assistance.

3. In the evaluation windows, show the variation suggested. The only point for me to set engine thinking time is to see the variation.

4. Store my guess and the evaluations so that I can review at the end of the training.

5. Random position. Something like "start from move ____ to ____" .This will provide a better training tool.

Thank you for your work!

Just sayin'

This app is confusing. I tried it together with Guess the Move and Lucas chess. Guess the Move is the easiest to use because of ctrl+v.

I didn't find it confusing once I'd used it a little. And it looks nicer than Guess The Move.

No doubt about its beautiful interface and wonderful sample pgn. But the fact that if you cannot find the right move, you must either resign or randomly play all possible moves is the pain! Lucas chess and GTM will let you move on with the list of possible choices ranked by engine!

You can always press Next and move on to the next problem if you cannot solve the current one. If you can't solve the current problem in the stipulated number of moves I don't see an issue with this.
