Try Wine, maybe it could successfully install chessbase and run it, but I doubt it. Unfortunately, chess resources in linux are pretty limited.
Fritztrainers And Linux

I don't think so, because fritz trainer videos are specifically synced with the chessbase or fritz GUIs so that the variations that come up on the video appear on your GUI. That is, the moves and the board aren't shown on the video itself, but on your GUI.
I think you can watch the raw videos, but that wouldn't mean much without seeing what's going on the board.

Those vids aren't that great anyway. As for me I'll never go back to using Windows as my main OS. When faced with Ubuntu vs. Windows, I'll always choose Ubuntu. There isn't a whole lot (besides PC gaming) that I can do in Windows that I can't do in Ubuntu (and don't even get me started about system design). Usually I can do more. I see blue skies.
Also, I don't think netbooks (of any OS) are designed for handling heavy programs like ChessBase. It's usually just for accessing the internet and word-processing isn't it?

Sorry, but there's no way to use chessbase products under Linux computer. I use debian + Shredder classic perfectly integrated with wine (only font problems but not with ubuntu). what about you ?

i have seen people on youtube using chessbase on their linux computers so i think its possible, however i myself i am unable to install it on my computer using wine

Any progress in this area? I have both ChessBase and Fritz, and don't want to give them up (too many FritzTrainers, which I really like). Scid and Lucas Chess would be sufficient for me if it weren't for the FritzTrainers. Anyway, anyone using a Windows emulator that works well with CB products? Thanks.
tewald, chessbase 12 works fine with wine, just use playonlinux and wine 5.0.2 64bit (last stable) or wine 5.15 64bit for install it. e.g on a Debian system:
#apt-get install wine wine64
#apt-get install playonlinux
then open playonlinux. go to tools ->manage wine versions
and on wine 64bit window select wine 5.0.2 , clic > button, install it
after that click on Install program and follow the installation with The Wizard
taking care to select "use a different version of wine" when asked, and select the correct one
you can visit the playonlinux wiki for help
I have used Chessbase on Linux via Wine in the past. Worked smoothly for the most part. Never tried trainer DVD though.

Do you know if Luca chess Linux supports dgt enabled boards?
Lucas released his Linux version earlier this year, so I have converted my drivers for Certabo, Millennium and Novag boards to Linux so they can be used there too. But LucasChess for Windows uses the Rabbit Plugin to support DGT boards, which DGT have never released on Linux.
So I have written my own version. LucasChess 1.26 includes version 0.1 of my driver for DGT boards but there are some issues with it, particularly around the initial connection to the board which doesn't always work correctly. Lucas will be releasing 1.27, probably next week, and that will include version 1.0 of my driver that I think is more reliable. It should support Serial, USB and Bluetooth boards as well as DGT3000 and DGTXL clocks. It should also support the Revelation boards. However I haven't been able to test either the DGTXL or Revelations.
Of course it also runs on Windows so is included as an alternative to Rabbit in that version. It can also be used in Arena (and so also CB-EMU) and Shredder on Windows.
I don't have Windows on my netbook, so I was wondering, is there a way to watch a Fritztrainer (or whatever they call the video DVDs available from ChessBase) video on Linux?
