Wow, WE. you are far too modest. That box looks amazing.
From Ye Olde Hawkeye Wood Shoppe

Thanks @Powderdigit! And as an added bonus… I still have the same number of “digits” as when I began. Always a good day in the shop.

Very nice work @Wits-end, I specially like the inside of the box covered with this kind of felt and the way to store the pieces. And I'd like to add that even with the 'poor quality pics' (that is not my opinion) the box looks like a professional work!.
Now this box deserves to store a nice personal homemade set into.....

Thank you @jacmater, @MCH818, and @Krames! I’m happy to read your comments and hope it gives you a reason to smile.
@jacmater, you just had to say it didn’t you! I sold my lathe early last year intending to purchase another, but somehow stuff just got in the way (new guitar). Maybe one day soon? Of course it be just one more artistic endeavor to attempt improving at.

Thought I’d post a few pictures today. As you already know, i am neither a wood whisperer nor a Magnus. However, i enjoy making smaller pieces of wood from bigger ones and taking inventory of my fingers throughout the process. I call the piles of saw dust “man glitter” not because I’m sexist but because i made that pile of stuff. Anyway, i hope you find some enjoyment in the following pictures, and again my apology for the picture quality. BTW, you’ll recognize the board from a previous thread. It was time to “repurpose” the board into a table. My hope is it will inspire me to study, study, and study some more. We’ll see.

@Wits-end - I really enjoy your writing and wood working skill. Humour and humility shine through, as does the quality of your work. 👍👍

Thank you everyone! You see it’s all @Powderdigit’s fault. I recall the table he found and took home. I’ve been looking for the same fortune to befall me to no avail. Then i picked up some scraps of sapele and realized I’d found my “table.”
Heck i don’t even know how to spell IKEA!
There something about wood creativity that speaks to me, i wish i had discovered it earlier in life. But then, I’d have spent a not so small fortune on equipment rather than wasting it on food and groceries. I hope you’ve all had a wonderful Sunday. Thanks again.

Ha! Happy to be such an influence on you my friend … albeit your table has got mine covered! Yours is refined and beautiful.
Still this (attached above) is without a doubt my favourite board - which I refurbished - sitting on legs that I found in street-side ‘hard rubbish’. Let’s agree that we’re a good influence on each other! 😉
It’s winter and too cold to do any yard work so… i took a break from flutes and used shop scraps to make a box. I’m only a novice at both chess and woodworking so both my game and box have numerous flaws. But, i am enjoying both and i suppose that is the purpose of life. Walnut and maple by the way. It will outlive me without doubt and provide safe sanctuary for my SC set. If the pictures give you a reason to smile or at least forget the day’s problems for a moment, I’ll be content with that. My apology for the poor picture quality.
