The owner's colleague is right, these are chess pieces in the French Régence design. I assume they were made in the first half of the 20th century. Régence pieces differ very much in price. Very early 18th century sets are very rare and can be worth thousands, while these younger, 20th century sets were made in rather large numbers and, hence, are not rare. The condition seems to be quite good, so I would estimate a fair price around 60-100 EUR.
Help identifying pieces
Thanks! He was asking 165 EUR so I’m glad I checked. How do you see they’re from the 20th century and not older?
It could be late 19th century as well, but not earlier in my opinion. The style of earlier pieces is much different. Check out my website, I have a few of those earlier sets and you can see it from the entire design of the knights, for example, that these are totally different. The ones above look more like the sets I have seen from early 20th century.
These ones are late 18th / early 19th century Régence sets, for example.

This one here is more mid-19th century

And these are later examples from late 19th / early 20th century.

Here is a page from the 1913 catalogue of the German maker K.P.Uhlig, in which a very similar set is shown.

And last but not least a picture of two men playing with this style of later set from the 1920s/1930s.

Can you see the difference in the various pieces, for example in the bishops? Earlier bishops have a triangular collar, while the more modern ones are bulkier overall and have a round collar.
I saw this chess set at an antiques shop. Any idea what model these are, and roughly what it’s worth? I have zero knowledge of this and all the owner was able to say was that his colleague thought it was a regency set but he had his doubts.
Thanks!
