Glad to hear it, particularly as House of Staunton themselves claim quite the contrary. (They do say that they sell "ebonized" chess sets, you know.)
What does "ebonized wood" have to do with "lacquered"? Do they state they lacquer their ebonized wood?
And as far as "lacquered", I will trust the quality iof HOS and wiscmike's word that the sets are top quality.
Like I Said for $59 they are an outstanding value. They don't look like they would ever chip to me and when and if they do I will be long gone from this world.
