Nice find! I don’t know much about these sets but I would be jumping for joy if I bought that for $10.
Is this a Jaques and Son Lasker set from 1880s?

What colour pawns and rook are you missing?
With regards to value, the box alone would fetch over £100 I believe. The pieces maybe £200? But have a look on eBay, my set’s auction completes tomorrow night and that will give you an idea of the current market value.
$10?! Really?! Lucky €$[]{%!! 😡

Thanks IpswichMatt. That link does indeed work for me. Good notes about the patina. I am missing the Black rook and two black pawns.

Here's a rook and some pawns. The Jaques rook and pawn are on the left. Not a great match I'm afraid.

Here's another Rook which is a better match. It's boxwood though (obviously) so it would need to be made black. This can be done with black car rattle-can spray paint, a technique which is more effective than it sounds.

Sorry about the sideways pics. I'm posting from Linux-land and can't be bothered trying to correct them.
Let me know if you're interested in any of these pieces, you can have them for the cost of the postage @manwholikestosleep

@IpswichMatt, yes, what a wonderful offer! I would absolutely take the pieces to help complete my set here. Let's converse over PM and I will send you my details. Thank you so much. The black pawns and white rook will be put to good use and I'll be adding to that 'patina'.

I cannot stop looking at my new chessmen! I recently won a $10 bid on an estate auction website and picked these up today. I am trying to identify these and my search thus far has led me to believe they are Lasker series by Jaques and Son from 1880s. Unfortunately, this is an incomplete set, missing 2 pawn and a black rook. The white king is marked at the base. Kings rook and knights are marked with a crown. I am completely in love with these and have a few questions. Pictures are below:
