Is wood tech worth it?? or other pieces for home and travel?

If you can afford it, based on your income and living situation, it's always nice to have a good set around. Just make sure you take care of it and be very careful when and where you use it.
Depending on your lifestyle, it's nice to have a nice cheap non-basic plastic set around for kids, blitz, bughouse, club or tournament games, and to have a wood set for nicer large events (do keep in mind that top boards at main tournaments are almost always supplied with organizer-issued sets and clocks).
For Black pieces, natural ebony or blood rosewood are excellent choices.
