I'm just going to take a wild guess but maybe the new version has algaebraic notation while the original wouldn't??
Lasker's Manuel of Chess

I have the old version and it is completely written in descriptive notation. Other than for its novelty value, I would not buy it for its information. Lasker himself writes how hypermodern theory is new yet untested so there is little theory on those variations.
Funny thing is that I bought it about 8 years ago at a small library for 25cents. Who would have thought that the book would be that cheap these days!

Canadian GM Kevin Spraggett swears by Lasker's Manual, and claims to still consult it. It contains a useful summary of Steinitz's theory on accumulating small advantages and the necessity to attack when you have the advantage. The openings are obviously outdated, but the book does have a certain charm.
Does anyone happen to know the differences between the old version of "Lasker's Manuel of Chess" (the one with the blue cover and Lasker in front of it) and the new one that just came out in 2009. Also, please post any comments you have on the book itself.
