The countdown is on...it's not long now until Christmas. If you are still looking for a nice present or would like to treat yourself, I recommend my book "On the Collecting of Chess Sets". It is available from me at a discounted price of EUR 57 including shipping. I still have a few copies in stock.
If you are interested send an email to holger.langer@chess-collection.de!
More information about the book is available in this thread https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/new-book-on-chess-collecting

This is an excellent book. I often pick mine up and open at any random page to learn about various chess pieces and the historical context of their design. I also use mine as a reference when I am thinking of buying modern repro sets of older European designs too… it gives me a sense of how the repro relates to the historical design. A highly recommended present for the chess enthusiast.

The book is amazing! I am using it almost at daily basis.  I recommend it to everyone who is serious about collecting chess items. A chess collector will begin to cry of joy after finding  such a gift under the Christmas tree!

Holger, I like your Romanian Bundesform from your website. I have several Bundesform sets. One is quite interesting, at it was designed by the Swiss player Henri Grob (yes, the same guy who wrote about the infamous Grob’s opening). Grob  was also an artist and painter. Did you ever heard above this set? I only saw two yet (my and another one offered in “Ricardo”, a kind of Swiss EBay).
