Logical Chess - new Alg. notation

Anyone read this one?  by Irving Chernev.  Reviews?  What rated player would you say it's for?  Good for a 1500 player?  I already have J. Silman's middle game and endgame books, so am I covered?  Thanks for any input,

I like it, it's certainly easy to understand, and will be of value at your level.

I wish he wouldn't explain in every game why 1. e4 or 1.d4 is a good move though.

Goes over every move with reasons, and not too many long variations unless necessary. Starts off with kingside attacks, then queens pawn openings and finally a collection of games instructive for one reason or another.

One criticism is that he doesn't really look at the mistakes the losing player was making in detail or suggest better ones.

 You are not really a chess player until you have read Logical Chess.....

It's good, different from Silman's books (which are textbooks), but IMHO, less good than Reti's Masters of the Chessboard as a first game collection.

I really like it (it might be my fav chess book), but I'd agree with Scottrf that he could have suggested more moves/ideas for the losing player.

It's not hard to read or understand, yet it has really helped me improve my chess 

Reti's Masters of the Chessboard is very good.

I just ordered it.  I'm a sucker for more chess books.  That's it, no more. 

Yeah, it's a really good book. Definately a good writer and good content for a beginner.
