Hi,

I'm looking for a chess board to be able to play against a chess engine/AI, but would also like to play online.

I am looking at the Square Off Pro (not available in Europe, only online), a DGT Pegasus, Millennium E-one ...

But having read/viewed so many reviews I honestly don't know anymore, the perfect board apparently doesn't exicst.... So perhaps any advice?

I have three Certabo boards of various sizes and find them all excellent. You can play online, UCI engines plus the chess computer ROMS. Just plug it into a PC, phone or tablet and away you go. Plus they are all made of wood manufactured in Italy including the hardware electronics. Have a look here. https://www.certabo.com/categoria-prodotto/chessboards/

You can play engines with pegasus with android apps chess dojo and whitepawn. Hopefully PC connectivity will come soon.

@kuldeep77: Are the engines located on the android apps or do you need an Internet connection?

@ChessElk The engines are locally available in apps. Why don't you give these apps a try? They are free anyway.

@kuldeep77: Thank you. I have been using the White Pawn app for a while. But with a DGT Smartboard. I will buy the Pegasus soon. Did I understand you correctly. It's right to connect the Pegasus via Bluetooth with the White pawn app. Without using the DGT app? That would be great.

The Pegasus support in the White Pawn app is in beta at the moment. It connects directly to the board without needing the DGT app.

Good news. Thank you, flintydog! 👍

Just want to let you know that for now I ordered the Square Off Pro.

As I'm a real beginner I think at this price point you get the most bang for your buck ...

Meanwhile, I'm doing puzzles and lessons on various apps :-)
