I agree - decorative sets are not really my cup of tea. I like the HoS Zagreb set.
Looking for new Chess Set

I think JC Penny's was selling these glass sets a few years ago:

But probably out of stock now. Looks like Target has picked them up and are selling them. I considered buying one a while back since they would make a good display set as well as being playable, but never did because back then I wasn't very serious about chess and didn't know anyone else who played.
As an aside, I notice the pieces aren't set up right in that picture.

I always check every chess picture for correctness and they are always wrong. You might think that they would put some effort in.
Great chess set for a great price.

I finally received my chess set yesterday for any that are interseted. I ordered a marble set and I love it. I must admit I've played 1.5 games on it now and I'm nervous about breaking a piece, but they seem solid. I will be posting pictures and links in the near future!

So here is my new set! http://www.khanimports.com/chesssets.html
All of those look too decorative to me. It's hard enough for me to play with standard Staunton pieces, I'd have a hard time with a Sherlock Holmes set. Maybe that's why I'm not too keen on the Isle of Lewis sets.
