My Fritz 15 DVD doesn't announce moves

Anybody have that problem where there fritz 15 doesn't announce moves or does anybody know how to fix the problem if it can be. I've had all the fritz's so I'm pretty familiar with how they run. The talk files always get tangled up with the announce moves but here I just cannot get the announce moves going. Thx.

I'm not a Fritzer, but it seems you'd like some input, so I'll get the ball rolling. Smile

I think I read a thread a few days ago where someone said there's a GUI patch (update) out. Have you tried updating the GUI?

Yes its at update 6 and no announced moves. Its a nice feature while watching the pros play because after 30 minutes you can hear the move from another room and then see whats up

Any update on this 2 years later?  I'm having this same issue on Fritz 15 but not on Fritz 13 UI.  When set to "talk", the program still goes about with its annoying quips, but still doesn't announce moves, and when set to "announce moves" I get silence.

Idk, did you check to see if you have the audio WAV files for announcing moves? (The path, I guess, would be something like "Program Files\ChessBase\Sounds\English\Notation\").

Yeah, they're there but as MP3 files instead of Wav files.

I finally figured it out.  For some reason, the folder structure was incorrect.  The English folder was in  \ChessBase\Sounds\Board.  I moved it to \ChessBase\Sounds and now it works.  I also noticed it sounded very muffled compared to Fritz 13, so I copied the English folder from Fritz 13 over (which uses Wavs instead of Fritz 15's mp3s) and now it sounds better.  This leads me to wonder why Chessbase hasn't address the issue that their program installs folders in the location after several people have complained about this, and why they switched from wavs to highly compressed mp3s for their sound files, causing their newer software to have inferior audio quality compared to their older stuff.

I just bought Fritz 18 and I am having problems with announce moves. The only time it announces moves is when I move the mouse and I want it to announce moves when I move the pieces with the DGT board and on replay. Can someone help me with a little more detail on the moving file situation I can locate the files but I am not sure I am moving them into the right place or in the right way.
