Andrew Soltis's New Art of Defence is not simply a reprint of the Art of Defence he wrote in 1975 he rewrote it and brought it up to date with fresh examples because he says in the book what worked in 1975 does not work against the 2014 attackers who think and fight differently.

There are few great books on defence compared to attack being written nowadays I think you could count them by the handful and the quality just doesn't match his book or the care that went into Lyev Polugayevskys work from the 1990s the best of the lot is Mihail Marins Secrets of Chess Defence but that's out of print.

Worth the $16 if you want a solid book on Defence if your an intermediate player or need a refresher on Defence after not playing for a long time.
