New UCI connection for Millenium boards

I just received an email from Millenium on their new UCI integration with ChessLink:

ChessLink as UCI integration for ARENA and Fritz
This UCI ChessLink Engine integrates the ChessLink interface into any UCI capable chess program. The interface simulates an UCI engine, and transfers moves from the board to the PC and vice versa. Both ARENA and FRITZ have already been successfully tested with it. The program supports both the exclusive boards and The King Performance. Download, documentation, limitations and installation instructions can be found in the PDF document under the link below. Thanks to Lars Nowak for this great extension!

I have yet to try it out but wanted to reach out to others that may already jumped on this.  How is it working?  Have you tested it with other apps besides Arena or Fritz?

I'll report back as soon as I have the time to do it.

Well after working with the generous Lars Nowak on my configuration, I can report that it's very nice to add this component to my toolbox.  When I tried to set it up, it didn't react like I thought it was supposed to, so I assumed it was not set up correctly.  Lars actually remoted into my laptop to see what was going on, and fielded my many questions.  That's great support, thanks Lars!!

Below is the scenario I tested and that works great:

Two human players playing on the KP board and moves are shown on Arena. (Note this is not using the KP engine.  I assume that Arena can provide real time move analysis but I didn't do that yet.)

It will be greatly appreciated if someone could make video on how to connect ChessLink to Fritz or Arena.

The user manual 'MChessLink.pdf' is not that straightforward.

In 'Chess for Android', player can connect to ICC through ChessLink bluetooth connection, why new UCI connection use USB instead of bluetooth , is this due to the limitation of UCI interface?

Anyway, I connected ChessLink to both Millenium KP and computer, and run MChessLinkUci.exe  I did see some transaction in the log file:

Not sure how to set up MChessLink engine, and how to get to the following configuration?

Download Tiffany's UI 0.6.0-alpha for Mac & Windows here

Tiffany's UI supports two playing modes of which both support the usage of a ChessLink board:

  • Player vs. Engine / Player vs. Player
  • Player vs. Lichess Opponent

Chesslink Support

Tiffany's supports currently playing via ChessLink on USB.

  • Mac OSX: The software should find your board right away.
  • Windows: You might have to install USB drivers for the board. Find information here or here.

Lichess Support

  • You have to create an API Token on your lichess account page: https://lichess.org/account/oauth/token
  • Paste your username and the token in the options dialog of Tiffanys-UI
  • You have initiate / accept the game on your regular Lichess Client (Mobile/Browser)
  • Select any of your open games in the Lichess mode of Tiffany's UI and play your game ;)

Following video shows the usage of the Chess Genius Exclusive Board vs. an Opponent from Lichess. Youtube Video

Unfortunately, I cannot make it work.  Tiffany's UI  does not talk with Chesslink, not sure why?

@PatrickLFT, I can possibly help with your setup, as I've communicated with the developer Lars Nowak a couple of times, so know what to look for.

The key is to get the Com port right -- don't use <auto> as it has issues.  And don't look for LED lights since there is a bug in that area.

Just finished playing a game against one of the many engines supplied with LucasChess with my MP board and it was moving.  I finally get to choose whichever engine I want with the board.

Current support is for LucasChess, Shredder, and Arena.
