Collectors often ask me where they can go to learn about Soviet chess sets. Now there is a new website whose mission is to compile photos and good information about these increasingly popular sets. The site is titled Soviet and Russian Chess Sets,https://sovietchesssets.com/.  It complements materials in my Blog on Chess.com and the Facebook Group Shakhmatnyye Kollektsionery.

Read about the following sets, and many others, in our growing library of articles and in our Gallery, which provides a catalog of Soviet and Late Tsarist chess sets.

1930s Grandmaster Pieces

1930s-50s Bakelite Soviet Staunton Pieces

1950s-60s Baku Pieces

Tal Pieces of the 1959 USSR Championship

Late 1920s-30s Smyslov Pieces

Mid-1930s Botvinnik-Flohr 2 Pieces

1960s Grandmaster 2 Pieces

1950s Grandmaster 3 Pieces

Love this nicely detailed history of chess set design in pre and post soviet and surrounding territories under soviet rule.

found on the Internet

Chess computer "Strategist".
The first domestic development in this area.
Wooden, large tournament touch board. Game Strength - 2nd rank.
Side length 45cm. Inside there is a shelf under the figures and under the "brains".
When placing the figure on the cage, a soft click occurs, either a sensor or something else is triggered.

Woah…. Thank you for the amazing thread and links! This left me speechless, felt like I’d just awakened on Christmas Day! Oh and the “aspiring Luddite” phrase nearly made me snort my coffee this morning. A. L.’s unite!

thank you thank you thank you.

The fact that you continue to remember us guys on Chess.com,while so many collectors have gone their way, is a testament to your class!
