This is very nice. Welcome to the club of Noj set owners. And welcome to the Noj Dubrovnik owners club.
Noj Dubrovnik II

Man. I so want a Dubrovnik in red. It definitely looks natural when on a red+natural chess board. Maybe a muted maple+boxwood chess board would work, too.

Thank you for bumping up this old thread. It didn't get much traction two years ago.
LOVE the NOJ red stain.
It's interesting that the red stain on the NOJ site doesn't look as dark as KA2Z's photos above. The images of red stain pieces on the NOJ site look more rich and have more depth. I'm guessing it's just the lighting?
Can someone confirm, there's only one "red stain" that NOJ uses right?
FYI: There was one NOJ Dubrovnik 1950 for sale on eBay early this year. I think it was brown stained. They are rarely on the second hand market.

I seriously doubt that NOJ owners would part with their expensive, custom chess sets before the other mass-produced sets they possess if they just needed the cash to purchase a different set or to de-clutter and make space.
Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the NOJ company envisions their products to become heirloom items among middle class families.

Are you disagreeing with something I said? Or are we in agreement? LOL
NOJ makes about 70 total sets a year. It's a very small sample group. Everyone has their own reasons if they need to sell something.
There was one person here who sold a NOJ Minceta last year. And one on eBay who sold a NOJ Dubrov 1950 this year. It's rare. But life happens. The good thing is that currently, NOJ sets will sell at a premium on the second hand market. The Minceta sold in the blink of an eye.

Pawnerai, just curious if you recall what that noj dub sold for? It must have sold quick cause I didn't even see it posted.
I got a Dubrovnik II in red from Noj a few weeks ago.
A fantastic set in every way.
Here are some pics:
The same set on a dark square board with 2 1/4" squares.
The kids like the 2" squares better.
Same set on a Drueke board with 2" squares.
