You can check House of Staunton if you are interested in genuine Jaques Staunton. Regency Chess also used to sell them. Jaques also sells them and the knights, queens and kings are less chunky than Official Staunton and the pawns are very accurate but price is higher.

prove us all here now you own official staunton set..let us see the certification ??all words , you are a piece of bad words only, mocking companies with falsely claims but you do not show your sets you say you on it..again show us certification from 1849 official laquered set, we are all wait to see come on big talker big nonsense idiot ! let see certificate from your set order 1849

Do not become rude and watch your foul mouth. That is none of your business to see photos. Certificate is just a piece of paper made by the Indian producer of the set; Official Staunton is only the seller of this set not the producer. If you want to see 1849 sets visit ebay which is full of them and you can see all types of photos and roll in them all day and night. You need to move yourself and do some research rather than waiting desperately for others to help you. As I said I have the set as do hundreds of other people but because the bodies of the king, queen and bases of the rooks are chunky and the knights are too big I prefer the House of Staunton and Regency Chess versions. What I like and what I don’t like is none of your business.

so you once again say you actually have the set the 1849 laquered limited edition set what goodnightmike has made this post ...so each set has a certifitication, so show your certification..what number do you own ? prove it or show me i am in wrongs about this. BUT I so total confidence you do not own this laquere 1849 that i insist you prove i am wrong, otherwise go away and stop your trolling..all know staunton official are purveyos so regency so house staunton etc .do u think NIKE owners work in vietnam?? show certificate as you are top liar number 1 with big words only

Is this set made by Official Staunton? No, never! This set comes in ebony, ebonised, antiqued and normal boxwood. These sets have been selling for a few years now by Official Staunton and Staunton Castle so if you think a little bit you will understand that many people have bought them and own them. Not everyone buys from Official Staunton while others are selling them at lower prices. Certificate of authenticity is just a piece of paper printed by computer and it is not necessary as there are only two chess makers producing them in India.

is the set made by official staunont? YES IT IS!! They own small manufacture under ENGLISH CHESS COMAPNY based in Amritsar! NO ONE has this design laquere 1849 ONLY OFFICIAL UK STAUNON has it! get your facts right before you troll

show me another who selling this set in this colour with laquere finish ..show me 1 image ?! and show your certificate

Official Staunton is not the maker of this chess set. They just have them made in India. There is no English Company based in India. What is their off-shore tax number and their registered off-shore company number?

show us your certificate you have stated 3 occasions you have this actual set by Official uk staunton

you cannot show it because you do not own it! LIAR and TROLL

To dispel the misinformation that has been spread about Carl’s companies that has often cropped up in other threads, here is the breakdown as explained to me by Carl:  Official Staunton is a direct to consumer retail company entirely owned by Carl. The English Chess Company wholesales chess sets to other retailers and does not sell directly to the consumer. This company is Carl’s in partnership with one other well known English player, businessman and journalist (not Ray Keene, thank God!) Chessmaze International is Carl’s umbrella company that includes his interests in the above, as well as his manufacturing concerns and partnerships with companies in India. The names are NOT interchangeable!

You are not listening properly. The 1849 chess sets are not sold only by official staunton and other retailers also sell them in ebony, ebonised and antiqued wood and my one does not come from Official Staunton. You claimed that there is an English company based in Amristar called English Chess Company which you imply has an off-shore tax number and has also a registered off-shore company number. This is the information that you have spread yourself and if it is disinformation it is again your own doing. Besides, customers are free to shop from wherever they like and everyone’s taste in chess is different. If I like Nottingham chess set by House of Staunton or Sicilian Chess set by Regency Chess or the products of Chessbaron or if I simply wish to shop from ebay where I have better variety and price comparison, noone can ask me why or persuade me to do otherwise. Customers tastes and freedom of choise must be respected and no company is allowed to impose their will on the customer and use persuasive techniques to push the customers to buy their products. This is a forum not bill borad for Official Staunton.

You can respect the fact the @goodnightmike started this to discuss his acquisition of an Official Staunton 1849 reproduction set and not go off on some lunatic rants about what you want to talk about.

You talk about owning all of these sets but offer no proof when asked. All of us freely share pics of our sets t encourage people to buy or to give some joy to others.

Or, we post to show things are not what they should be and post pictures to prove it.

You just want to come on here and knock things down and cause dissension, offering no proof that you actually own or have problems with anything you talk about.

Go start your own thread and invite people to post there.

(Sorry @goodnightmike, I did not mean to derail your thread. Thanks again for sharing some wonderful pics.)

The troll is a lot like Teichman.

Endlessly critical, always on about criticizing some chess piece class (wood, CB products), big claims about set ownership without providing evidence thereof, always arguing in the chess set threads.

Pretending to be American in this account but is UK, like Teichman.

Might as well report him.

Never said it was. Maybe that is your issues, reading comprehension.

I was talking about respect for the OP. The silly little argument about it being an "public forum" is usually what people like you state.

I would carry this on in private but like a petulant little child you have blocked me.

Great set, Mike! I think the lacquer was the way to go. The antiquing is exceptional.

They are beautiful Mike! I love the antique finish on this set.  Now, I am wondering why a few companies offer lacquered finish, most of them are just waxed.
