Cool I didn't know this could be done. I got the DGT 3000 for Xmas. Playing classical time controls using the board against a real opponent would be great practice. All you need to do is glance at the screen to see the opponent's move and play it on the board then start calculating. You could even open something like notepad so ot blocks out the board and just read the notation so you don't start playing using the 2D board. Anyway thanks for posting this!
Playing on Chess.com using (DGT) e-board
Hi limber_up, thanks for your message. Could you please elaborate a bit on which equipment you have, how you have used that equipment, and how you experienced that (i.e. did it work smoothly)? Thanks!

Hey, checkout a software I developed for playing with DGT board on Chess.com
https://github.com/amitassaraf/dgt-for-chess.com
Dear all,
As I was considering buying a nice set of chess pieces (I currently only have a travel set), I realized that most of my games are actually played online. Therefore, I am investigating the option of getting a (nice) e-board, such as the DGT board.
Unfortunately, I find it really difficult to find detailed, practical information on what the experience of playing online with such a board is like.
I understood that you can get a DGT 3000 or DGT Pi to play against the chess engines integrated in the clock--the clock will show you the time and also the engine's moves.
I further understood that, when playing online, you need a PC with DGT driver software (LiveChess) installed, then start playing (e.g. on Chess.com) in your browser, using the e-board as input device.
When I image playing with a computer and e-board, however, it feels like a tremendous and distracting hassle to keep looking at the screen. Furthermore, whenever I see a chess position anywhere I automatically start calculating in my head, so I fear that I will end up "playing" on the PC screen anyway--this may sound silly, but it feels to me as a deal-breaking disadvantage that ruins the experience.
Therefore, I wonder, it is possible to get rid of the PC screen entirely? I understood that there is a possibility of a voice announcing moves using a browser plug-in. However, that leaves options like offering and being offered a draw, take-backs, and most importantly, checking the time you and your opponent have left. And as I understood, the DGT chess clocks are not compatible with playing on Chess.com.
Could anyone please explain a bit more on what the experience is like, playing on Chess.com using a DGT e-board? How do you cope with the chess board on your screen? Do you find it a hassle to set up? Et cetera.
Any experience you have will be very interesting to me. Much obliged!
P.S. If anyone have experience using the Certabo, I would also be very interested in that.
P.P.S. A Merry Christmas to everybody!
