beautfiul looking chess set ! will you be displaying it in your home or playing chess with it ? Do you have a board for it or is that your next purchase ?
Please help identifying pieces & wood

Looks like it might be red sandalwood. To my eyes, it could also be bud rosewood, but I don't have a great eye for colour and photos don't always show colours reliably anyway.
It looks like red sandalwood is protected these days:

The red wood appears to be bud rosewood (African Padauk), which is used by all the Indian manufacturers. It's a stylish Staunton set, could be "fierce knight" Staunton.

Thanks for the kind words! Yes I almost always have one of my sets (I am getting close to 30) displayed, and I swap it every few days (I like to change). I use the displayed set for analysis but I plan to play once retired. Most often I use vinyl chessboards for display, to avoid light spots on the few wooden boards I own - just ordinary ones for the range of sizes I need.

Thank you @IpswichMatt & @chessmaster_diamond for the opinion on wood species!
I'll check bud rosewood pictures. By the way chessmaster_diamond, I own this chess computer; a very nice one!

I checked many pics, it looks like the fierce knight always have raised ears. I keep on searching...

As a conclusion to this request, I found this very design most often named 'Stallion' or 'Staunton Stallion' or 'English Stallion' by several retailers (with different wood species and sizes).
Also retrieved this 2013' thread that has been helpful.
Merry Xmas to all, happy EOY!
Hi folks,
got this used set thru small ads; it has been quite a gamble as only the black king and a white tower were displayed - along with several little useful pictures of the wooden box containing the set
It has been a hit, as the received pieces are very nice, heavily weighted, with black leather (or leatherette) underneath. What decided my purchase, in addition to the clean looking Staunton pattern, was the dark redish color of the displayed king, it smelled high-end quality wood.
Here are few pictures:
Most probably they were made in India, the pattern only stands aside from the most traditional Staunton with the conical king's head (I could find some similar shape with Royal Chess Mall's 3.1" Pro Staunton). King size is 3.6" / 92mm.
Under strong light, the dark wood color reveals itself; and as I had to fix a couple of chips I can tell the inside section color is purple red. My best guess is red sandalwood. The light pieces are probably boxwood.
Is my guess on the dark wood correct? Any clue about the model?
Any insights much appreciated!
Kind regards
