Some pics are twisting and turning no idea why. Dates on bottom of the broken box (it came that way...intend to fix it) and 1944 scratched on top.

There is a broad arrow mark just before the date. That means that Jaques made this set for the British military. The broad arrow is on British firearms and all other military equipment.
