Bananamoon do you like them? Are they weighted?

I don't think the set is weighted but, as m_liguori stated, the pieces are stable due to the broad base. I really love this set (bought 3 of them :-) ).

I have the same set. They are unweighted, but stable and have a great feel to them.

yep .... your early post and picture is the reason why I bought this set. Thx m8!

Which model you bought exactly? Dubrovnik Zagreb plastic or Dubrovnik plastic? It seems the former one to me.

I bought the Dubrovnik Zagreb plastic set.

This is in the 45 year old range. Survived camping , the beach, blizzards and divorce. It's not weighted , the pieces fit in the little white trash can.

I like that set a lot, but that king and queen are way too similar for me.

Hi everyone, this is my first post and I have been humbled to read through many posts on here and view the respect that many of you give one another when engaging. I do not think this is the norm with much of the internet being full of the worst part of man.

So yes, I too love plastic sets, particularly those weighted well. I just like heavy and unbreakable things what can I say. I know little of this set, it is a staple here in South Africa which has very few stores that sell anything chess related but I think it is most probably from China. Nice weight and, for me anyway, a good quality finish. Let me know what you think.

@custardgirl  Another member here on this site expressed it better than I , but when handling a piece , if you can recognize it with your eyes shut, than it is a playable set. The set in your picture is great, the board is high contrast , the pieces are weighted and it looks like a terrific set to play a game with. really nice !

The picture looks like it was done with natural lighting , is it outside?

@ bananamoon, ddmeltzer8, and verylate

Thanks for the kind words.

I have dozens of sets , ornate and tournament standard.

But this ratty old set always gets compliments.

Custardgirl, looks like a nice set. I especially like those handsome knights. What are the king's dimensions (height, base, & weight)? I assume you're using a standard 2.25" tournament size board. Thanks.

Custardgirl, I think your nice set is a House of Staunton Marshall series. Thx 4 the nice pics.

verylate: "Bananamoon, that was a cool KID-oni you played"

Thx ... was proud of this game and wanted to show off Laughing

Just got HOS Marshall Library 2.875 plastic. Very nice shape (much better than DGT's in my opinion, but DGT's design is more robust, maybe tailored for its purpose, kids and starter etc.), but the plastic quality seems not so good as DGT's. Especially those mold lines are very obvious and protruding. And the finish is dull and not polished as DGT's.
