All these people talking about how their wives won't let them get stuff.

Why the heck does anyone get married?

Avatar of magictwanger

Love my wife way too much! That's why I got married(kind of early though). Love at first sight for me actually....She? Not too wild at first, but I eventually wore her down.....Going on 50 years....Not bad huh?happy

I'd rather just be free to collect absurd chess sets for fun. If I could afford to burn hundreds on a malachite set I totally would.

@magictwanger Congratulations on reaching that milestone! I just celebrated 44 years and don't understand why people question marriage. In a world where nothing is valued, having someone to share your life with is a blessing. Oh, and my wife lets me indulge in my collecting. tongue

Just got my new set today
Chessnut Pro grin
I was always interested in a Wooden board, but also E-boards interest me.
Decided to bite the bullet and get one!

@Whiggi - thanks for the video; it’s a stylish board and combo. If you happen to be in Melbourne it’d be great to be able to see it in the flesh and have a game, albeit - with your rating - you would destroy me. I’d bring the beer to wash away the pain of my loss! 😊

@Powderdigit that sounds nice.. but I'm not in Melbourne :'(

Judging from the photos of the knights the pieces are poor quality. Very disappointing considering the price of the Chessnut Pro.

He's right to judge the quality of the pieces. They aren't perfect, that's fact. But I wasn't expecting perfection. There's 3 reasons I got this board, it's wood, tournament and electronic happy.png

The pieces can be replaced but overall I'm very happy so far. Will do a review video soon wink.png

Shame on you. You got 2 dislikes for stating the obvious.

As it turns out, you - too. wink.png

Nothing to care about. Snowflakes only have one destiny, to meltdown.

My snowflake hat on my noggin.

Interesting set. Main feature for me is there are 9 kings. Round turrets could also look good in another set on a thick rook. The mane is funny, makesme laugh, good one. And yes it has just too many rings and detail for me. But you made such a beautiful photo and you could probably sing us a song on your set. Thank you for sharing!

All wooden 1960's Soviet GM set. The type which was used in all the major tournaments in the 60's and 70's.

A current game underway …

I don’t have a display cabinet but my family puts up with (I.e., secretly enjoys) me displaying a few boards like this scattered in different rooms - usually representing games I am losing online - and then, when I’m walking around and the mood strikes… I might push some wood in the hope of finding a fine move. All good fun.
