One of my favorites. Modern Series Ebonized Boxwood/Boxwood. I like the Bohemia influence and a sleeker looking German Knight this set has. It is on my magnetic folding board with 2 inch/50 mm squares. That I got from Yellow Mountain Imports.

I do like those knights! And the kinda-matte black is nice as well.
Thank you! the knights and colors sold it to me.
Love that matte finish. I can see why people don't like black but I like it.

This is my Staunton replica 1924 New York Championship set. Not sure who played, but the set is ebony and boxwood. The feel and weight are perfect! 4” King.
The 1924 New York Tourney was one of the strongest tournaments played in North America up to that time. It included three past, present, and future world champions, Lasker, Capablanca, and Alekhine. As well as Marshall, Reti, Maroczy, Bogoljubov, Tartakower, and Janowski. Most of the top ten players in the world at that time. Lasker, who had lost the championship to Capablanca three years earlier, won the tournament a full 2 points ahead of Cappy. Lasker was 55 years old at the time! So there may be hope for us oldsters after all.

1970's plastic tournament set (USSR). Please excuse the white queen on the wrong square, I was in a rush!!

Finally got myself a "Nazi" set, a later version of the 1936 "Bundesform". I guess 1980s. The pieces are weighted (black king at a decent 46g) and felted, black pieces are rosewood (so it must be a late version of that style, probably made by Weible).
A little more care than usual was lavished on the knights, making them look less brutalistic.
And the typical "bullet-style" bishops.
Nice set, I like this. Very unusual, yet looks very refined and easy to play with.

I just received this wonderful little (10") folding magnetic chess set from House of Chess (Pleasant Times Industries) this morning. It's well-made (no loose hinges, etc) with quality materials ("ringy?" rosewood and maple), and offers some unique features in a portable mag set at this price, $60US. Perfect as an analysis set, or for over-the-board play in tight quarters.
1) Engraved algebraic notation
2) 2 Extra queens (for promotion)
3) 2 Extra pawns (in case you lose one, or two))
4) Two sets of knight (8 total), a pair of Staunton-style and a pair of German-style knights
5) A nice velvet carry bag with a wooden engraved logo chip
A posting on their eBay store said that the company is on hiatus until February 15th, though they may still be taking internet orders and shipping after that time (don't know, check). Here's the link to their website:

@loubalch Nice little set! Ringy is another word used for Anjan Wood I believe. Since Rosewood and Golden Rosewood is a restricted wood from exportation out of India. They are finding alternatives like Anjan and Babul. With my new 3 1/4" Popular Staunton set. They advertise that it is Golden Rosewood but in fact that it's now Babul aka Acacia Wood.

The link I posted was their website, on their eBay store they identified the wood as Babul. I thought it looked like Wenge wood. But, hey, what do I know?

Some very nice sets just posted...and...
One disgusting word!
LOL what? Nazi? The word isn't disgusting. The people were. You crack me up!

Words are never disgusting per se. "Nazi" here is definitely harmless. It is actually helpful, as it describes a particular aesthetic style.
Let me help with an example. If @sound67 were to write "this set was stolen from a Jewish family by a Nazi collaborator," would you object?
It's not the word, it is always the context.

Yet Soviets aren't disgusting. The Soviet regime killed more innocents than the Nazis did. I guess the Hammer and Sickle is more accepting than the the Swastika. Both were evil and both are gone. Sorry to get on a rant but being more acceptable of Soviets and the ideology they had is more frightening than trying to squash even one word "Nazi". Mr. ifekali I am sure remembers the days of being under Yugoslavian Communist rule.

Whilst not in any way wanting to stick up for Stalin, I'm not quite sure you've got your figures right there. An estimated 6 million Jews exterminated in the holocaust. Plus the USSR itself lost around 20 million people during the war, the vast majority of which were innocent civilians. Obviously many of these were not as a direct result of Nazi fire - disease and starvation were rife, especially in Leningrad during the siege, but in any case they were because of the war. The USSR was a highly complex beast with many ills, but equating it with Nazi Germany is a massive stretch.

Under Stalin's era of rule. There are estimates of 20,000,000+ died. Not to mention Mao Communist China numbers as well. Communism was far most deadly and destructive to mankind than National Socialism was. Not defending Hitler and the Nazis but I find it hypocritical of being more accepting of Soviet ideology and symbols than rejecting National Socialism and symbols. All I am saying is that if the word Nazi offends you but not Soviet. You need a reality check on your morals.
Oh please!
I totally understand contextual expression and I definitely don't think sound67 meant anything derogative at all...but....the word Nazi is disgusting....Period!

This set could be the best deal on a quality mid-range chess set! At least I think so.
Since I posted my new travel set (above) from The House of Chess, I thought I'd mention their outstanding 4" Monarch chess set. Though I don't currently own this set, I did own two versions of this set (in Sheesham and Rosewood) at one time.
The Monarch offers quality materials, expert craftsmanship, all at an amazingly reasonable price of just $87, delivered from India. This set easily compares to competing sets selling for up to twice the price. Highly recommended! If you're interested, check out the link below.

Next is my American Civil War replica set - painted alabaster. Pictured are the Union pieces. The Confederates move first (White), since the “Rebs” fired the first shots.
Over the years, I’ve collected many sets and could spend HOURS in a well-stocked Chess ♟ store!
