Post Your Chess Sets

I just grab my 1st electronic chess set.  I know it's a bit of a novelty board, but it will still be fun to play against.

This is my first "good" chess set I've bought 20 years ago. Also nothing special actually, but, this set is kind of special (for me at least). The Design of the Pawns and the Knight is very nice in my opinion.

As far as I know, you can't get this set anymore.

Anyway, I have thoughts to put it on Ebay ... why? ... I have too many chess sets and I can play only with one at a time :-). Well I'm not sure about it, but I like to simplify my life and not having too much stuff.

the pieces stack inside each other. if you look closely you will notice  the pawns sticking out of the king and queen.

I know this set. There was a big advertisment campagne (at least when you watch chess comntent on YT ... then you probably saw this advertisment). The brand is called crownes and it is a kickstarter project. Yes, it is a smart idea for a chess set.

Do you own one? As far as I know, there aren't any sets released yet.

True, a Lardy set nothing is in proportion, king and bishop have oversized head. So are the queen and pawns btw. Many pieces are crooked, the horsie is huge which makes the base more obvious small. Wth happened to this design actually?

Sometimes, when I play very badly here ... when I play like a beginner and blunder ( okay, with a rating of 950 I might be actually a beginner) ... I think: I don't deserve any fancy chess sets. It's like having a Ferrari but no driving licence ... haha ... :-)

Watch out that you don't get forked or get mated by my chessmen ... when I tell them about it :-)

Why does Lardy have crooked chess pieces?

Ehm ... sorry ... I'm not a native speaker. "Lardy" is a name or a username?

I have looked it up in the dictionary, because I didn't know this word. So I thought it is an adjective.

I guess my comments here are as weird as my chess playing.

I've just heard people on here talk about the 'Lardy lean' and wondered why? Surely they didn't make them to lean on purpose so just wondering why their pieces are particularly known for this.

yes i actually did purchase this. it hasn't yet shipped to anyone though. its supposed to arrive in april .

Oh, thats interesting. I thought also to purchase that. It is a nice set. But then I deciced to purchase a chessbaazar set instead. I'm very curious about the crownes set. Will you post the set for us (in april)? Which one will you get? The premium, the original or the basic?

this might suprise you but the answer is none of the above  they actually introduced an even higher quality version than the premium and that is the one that i got. Crownes Chess Set | DesignNest.com it appears that i purchased the set when it was on sale as it is now 600$ instead of 400$... also i suppose it wouldn't hurt to post some pics of the chess set here once it arrives.

@Minuskel: I was talking about my set...it's based on Lardy design, like sets based on Staunton, Dubrovnik, Chavet etc....I actually like the repros of Lardy better like what Dan has...it's more in proportion like broader base.
