Preferred Instrument for Notation?

I use a rotring 800 with a little mini-clipboard. I semi use it as a fidget toy, kind of like how some players fidget with captured pieces. The rotring 800 is all metal and it's weight makes it good for this role.

@Skeletron, I am also a Zebra fan, but I've never tried the F-701. If you like an all-metal body and want to treat yourself, I cannot recommend BIGiDESIGN's Ti Click EDC too highly. It comes in a few finishes and it will take any of literally HUNDREDS of refills; JetPens lists 50 different Zebra refills that will fit it (and several hundred more from other brands). I'm partial to Pentel's EnerGel line, but Zebra's Sarasa line certainly gets high marks from me, too.
@KineticPawn, the 800 is awfully nice and has a great weight to it, but I'm actually partial to the 600 since it comes in a bunch of colors and I can match my lead color to the pencil so I don't have to guess.
Oh, and @felonet, since I used to only use Dixon Ticonderoga back in the day, I thought I'd add that if you like the feel of that lead (I'm assuming HB/#2), you might want to give these a try in HB:
- Staedtler Mars Lumograph (very close to the feel of a D-T #2)
- Faber-Castell 9000 (a little smoother)
- Uni Mitsubishi Hi-Uni (very smooth)
- Tombow Mono 100 (sooooo very smooth)
Now if only a nice paper brand like Apica or Maruman would make chess score books...
