While I may enjoy my pen and paper hard copies as much as the next guy, I feel that pen and paper suffers from a setback, It is dificult to convieniently sort it... I want to know what is the best program that I can use to digitally store my games, and archive them where I can then search them by specific openings, traps peformed, date, endgame result (I win/oponent wins I win as black...) when  you get down to it I really want something that is made to search for games and isnnt an eyesore (sorry If I have to use excell spreadsheets one more time while fixing mystakes in the notations I will lose it)

It is called chess database and there is few free ones: scid and chessbase lite

You probably want to get familiar with pgn file format too

I am familiar with pngs I used excel because it was sadly the best thing I knew of that could sort (and barely)

ChessBase doesn't offer much (if anything useful) you can get for free in SCID and other software, honestly.
