Replacing names in Chessbase

I haven't been able to find this out by googling so I was hoping someone could help me with Chessbase.  I have an older version -- Chessbase 9 and the Megabase 2006 that I've been adding games to over time.

But one thing that's been annoying me and that I don't know how to fix are the common grandmaster names that are spelled in the German way or some other type of transliteration.  For example, if you search for Korchnoi, you get nothing, as you need to search for Kortschnoj. When I come across such examples, I want to replace all those names with the spelling I'm familiar with, but don't know how to do it.

Can this be done?  Thanks.

You must be joking.  It's already in English.  But they often use German transliterations in the name spellings.  Or else they are inconsistent, with Germanic for some and English for others.  That's what I want to fix.

Go to the Players tab, right-click on the name and pick Edit. Renaming the player here will change the data for all his games.

Thank you.

you could try the "improve player names" function, but be warned that it might make some unwanted changes and a backup before starting is, i would say, an absolute necessity.

If you're talking about small numbers of games you could go into the database, click on the players tab, find the player in question along with any variant spellings. Once you've highlighted all variant spellings right-click and select "edit" (or press F2), you can then set your preferred spelling to all of those games. Once again, a backup before you start is highly recommended Wink
