Review of Chessbazaar Sinquefield Cup 2017

@lighthouse
Funny stuff thanks! That Al Pacino/Godfather clip says it all!
I don’t know what it is about this stuff but it’s so much fun to collect and admire. I live in a small town where chess activities are basically zero. Heck, I rarely have anyone to even play a game with.
Therefore, I’m glad I discovered this website and particularly this “books and equipment forum.” It’s nice there is a place where I can interact a bit with like minded folks who share this hobby.
Everyone have a great day!

@ TheOneCalledMichael, I'm wondering if you had sent them any emails asking for thorough checking the pieces before they sent it to you? I just pulled the trigger on this set and I'm cautious of CB quality control from my past experience.
Nobody feels sorry for you,regarding that.-
As for C.B. quality these days.....I'd bet that they got their act together by now.

MCH818 I slightly prefer the HoS 3.625 Cooke Luxury set only because of the stem and base on the king and queen. This is something that I realized prior to ordering the set from CB. Other than that, the set is excellent.
It you take a look at the knight you will also find a variable too with the HOS / TCE For a modern day set as pointed out my TOCM one of the most discerning / Enjoy

I still think I slightly prefer the HoS 3.625 Cooke Luxury set only because of the stem and base on the king and queen.
This makes me curious so I make a comparison picture of the two queens. The HoS queen is slightly angled. Now looking up and close I notice the HoS queen has a tapered base, can someone with HoS version like mister Eyechess confirm this? With tapered base I mean the base is not totally flat so a felt doesn't cover 100% of the base. Or do they just use a prefab felt that's slightly to small?
Regarding the stem, the HoS version is indeed slightly slimmer which makes it slightly more elegant.
