Anyone use the Saitek Mephisto Maestro Travel Chess Computer Model #CH08?  I'm thinking of buying this one...I can get it shipped to me for less than $80!!!  I think that's a pretty darn good deal!  But, is the computer a decent one?

The computer is decent. It is considered to be advanced, with a rating of 1600 - 2000. The feedback that I get is that it is playing 1700-1800. I hope that helps.

I bought this computer about 2 weeks ago and I really like it!  I play it all the time.

As a plus:

1. great design!

2. big screen,

3. heavy - but in a good way, not a plastic toy

4. lot's of nice levels, I play usually "X sec per move" or BLITZ

5. very nice plastic cover

6. Nice wide range of options

Minuses:

1. Could think faster,

2. 60 "fun" levels are practicly useless (but advanced 40 are OK)

3. Not so easy to read LCD.. but after 1 week I got used to it

(sorry for my english)

Great machine - lots of modes - works well, screen is easy to deal with after you get used to the bishops and the knights looking similar...

What I would like to get is a portable chess computer (Like the one you mentioned) but with the ability of upload/load/save/read pgn file. So I can study while I'm travelling.
