I have successfully installed scid for Mac Sequoia 15.4.1. In order to install it, I first installed Xcode. (I was prompted to do so, and just clicked OK.) Then I entered the command
sudo port install scid
tcl and some other software were installed as part of the process.
Now I'm wondering how to actually run the software. Naive question, I know, but can anyone enlighten me?
If you can't get any of the Scid variants to work, I switched from ScidvsMac to HIARCS Chess Explorer Pro and love it. It's not that expensive and works great on my Mac. (This is after 25 years of using Scid and ScidvsMac.)
I have HCE PRO but I find the Database management and Opening report function of the SCID vs MAC much better; another being piece activity tracker in a database.
There are many nice features in ScidvsMac but unfortunately it doesn't really run anymore -- or at least it is partially broken. HCE Pro has been a great alternative.
