The style of the board and pieces look very German to me (big cross, button shaped bishop tops, shape of the bishop mitres, large dome on top of the queen). Lardy did have licencing agreements with German producers for the typical Lardy knight. The knight certainly is a Lardy style one, I would estimate this knight design from the 50s/60s: simplified compared to earlier versions (teeth almost none-existing), nose pointing more upwards, but with more details than the popular knights from the 70s.

Thanks, broomstuck. She thinks, her father got the set in the mid 50s, but she never thought it to be anything other than a German set. When she sent it to me and I unwrapped the knights, I was really surprised and very happy to discover Lardy-ish knights.
