Anyone know anything about Shri Gadesh International (sales chess set; http://www.ganeshchess.com/ ) is is trustworthy ?

informaticacobach29

I bought a set from Shri Ganesh, don't make the same mistake.

You will be better buying from another seller.

Luckily exist companies like Ebay and Paypal that respond to these scams ...

It is sad to see people laughing at bad happens to others.

@foreverwin

Not every indian seller is bad, I have bought a couple of sets from Saggu Creations and I can tell you that the quality is great.

I have bought some sets from Chessbazaar also, and the quality is very good.

Also, remember that chess sets sold by HoS or OS are also made in India, but if you live outside the US or Europe the shipping cost can be really high.

Finally, don't forget to browse on eBay, perhaps you can find some chess sets that you like at a good price.

If you like soviet sets, try to find one on Etsy. Usually they can be found at good prices, and the shipping cost is not so high.

@rcmacmillan  Totally agree... thank for your comment.

Once again, so thankful to Chess.com and these awesome forums ... invaluable information.  I have traded emails with mr satish and received an inventory of stock and prices ... I was about to do a test purchase.  Halting further actions based on this thread.  Thanks much.  That did look pretty painful to see those images @informaticacobach29

@richiwalt; It's good that it served you. But this Mr. Gupta, must have unwary customers; Because he still has his web open. It will be good to share this information with your contacts.

richiwalt

Will do.

More info @foreverwin ...

I expressed some interest to him in email ... (as I said earlier, but before I read this thread) ... and since he has sent me three emails asking when I wanted to complete the purchase.  This was after I had sent a follow up email to him saying expressedly that I am no longer interested in completing the purchase due to research regarding other customer reviews.  So ... he doesn't seem to give up or accept a final answer that I've changed my mind ... interesting ... seems pretty desperate - a red flag itself for a legitimate business.

He replied  that he has only had two dissatisfied  customers who are unjustly  criticizing him as he claims he sent replacement pieces and that they are really fine now.

I somehow doubt that's true at all. :-) But even if it was –(again, EVEN IF IT WAS TRUE ...)  those images are not just an  unnoticeable flaw – those broken pieces should've never been shipped in the mail in the first place. Again that was very painful to see as delivered products.

best regards.

Pretty pleased with my CB purchase.

foreverwin

@richiwalt Good to Know.
This gentleman is very insistent, but you did well to buy in CB.
There are other stores as good, but for economy is enough.
From time to time on Ebay there are good deals too.

I bought in ganesh a couple of pieces and boards. I'm happy with them, and prices, mainly un boards are quite more cheaper. What you have to tale into account is that he is not good for high quality carving (CB also is not good) and that the photos of the pieces are not real, you have to ask him for real photos mainly about knights. Some shops un Spain sells ganesh products, i saw them before ordering, and as commented, for medium carving complexity and boards, them good.

@Fer8799; Perhaps all the claims that have been made to him, have already worked, but I will not take my chances.
Could you put pictures of your chess pieces you bought in Ganesh?

Fer8799

Sure, i will post in a few days

Fer8799

Hi, I have uploaded some photos here

https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B0OENNSziXiSY3lqb2d6ek52WUE

But Im having problems to include them un the post.

All you can see belong ti ganesh, pieces, boards and boxes (the cheapest ones)

I Will add the photos here when i hace access to a better conection, and also the lnk to a previous comment about ganesh

Saludos
