Square off - Chess.com connection via Google?

I wonder how to connect the Square Off app with chess.com if I used my Google Account to login to chess.com. The Square Off app is asking for the "ordinary" chess.com login (username/email and password) but you can't login with Google. Any idea how it works?? Thanks!

You might need to contact support to get a regular login for your account.

Thank you @Martin_Stahl! I will do that if nobody knows how to solve this.

Did you ever solve this??

It might be a while before they respond, they have been inactive for almost an entire month at the time of this reply.

Yeah, I of course expect terrible customer service from pretty much any company (sad), but I have corresponded with them (in the last week privately) before purchase about the actual dimensions of the board and pieces and they got right back with me.

I used their real time chat help on the site last night and those front line people don't know anything. They literally told me, we don't support chess.com. I had to nicely say, it says right on the box that you do. I'm looking right at it, and on your site, which is one of the reasons I bought this board. They couldn't even give me the dimensions they had to email back with them (which they did promptly, but maybe that was because a sale was on the line). They might be looking at a refund on the line if they don't get back to me this time.

TBH, if it works through there app, records my moves, and lets me play different AI, I'll be satisfied (I've never really understood how one person could be playing OTB and one online with time controls). That and all us online players are better online. I just got it to not feel so handicapped against my OTB club players.

Sorry to Necro this.  Similar experience to this.  Basically at this stage, I can't find a way to do this and square off support was quick and pleasant, but had no answer (to be fair, it was their online chat, which is mainly part of the sales org there I would assume, but it was a live human).

Square Off needs to get their dev team to fix this.  I have to think a huge chunk of buyers are chess.com or lichess users.  I'd create new unconnected account because I don't have much history here yet, but my membership is on this one.  Very disappointing.

Other than that, I do like the board.  I made the investment after reading all the drawbacks, but decided the benefits should outweigh the negatives.  Ultimately though, this technology is bound to improve over the next few years, if anyone is on the fence because of the cost, you definitely want to wait.

I was able to log into chess.com in Square Off app by going into chess.com app and finding a create password option somewhere in "settings" or "account".

Login to chess.com on internet brower -> go to settings -> go to password (looks like a key option) -> set password.

This is exactly right.

Part reply part review.

If you're on the fence about this purchase, I say do it. No doubt the tech will get better but that's everything. If this is your mindset, and you are prone to buyer's remorse when better stuff comes along, then maybe wait. However, better stuff will always come out and then you will never get anything bc you're waiting on the next better version.

After owning this for almost 6 months, I give it 4.5 out of 5. It has improved my OTB play so much and made me love OTB chess. In a way it has hurt my chess.com use/rating bc I only use lichess with the board. That way my lichess account is a pure OTB rating and my chess.com account is a pure online rating. If I'm home and want to play, I will start to play online and realize how much more fun I'd be having if I was playing OTB and pull the SO PRO out. This has nothing to do with either platform's connection performance either.

The board can get confused but I've never had a situation I couldn't fix. You just have to know how (many YT vids on how easy it is). You could be right in the middlegame and if you flipped over the table, we could still finish our game. My point is board confusion is fixable and it actually trains you to capture & move the pieces as you should in a tournament. The best technique for capturing is to remove your opp.'s piece, then fully lift (don't slide) your piece and place it on the now blank square.

Lastly, the style of the pieces is very much my taste. They aren't super heavy but they feel thick and meaty in your hand still. The Knight is always the most interesting design and he looks pissed! I love it! Very modern, with lots of straight lines and angles.

It's more of a mat finish than it is glossy in this picture but it shows the piece style nicely.
